Following an enquiry from a large Russian conglomerate, MSC Headhunting was quickly contracted to headhunt for a new factory manager. After talking at length with the company owners and understanding the company and role in more detail we were able to begin the search assignment. The company had an extremely urgent requirement as they had recently purchased the site and built a brand new high spec production line that had just been completed. The company now urgently needed an expert to ensure a smooth start up, then keep production running at a steady rate while seeking methods to optimise and fine tune the equipment to realise the theoretical capacity.
A further challenge related to the equipment installed at the factory. It was brand new and imported from abroad so there were only a small number of specialists in the world who knew how to run and maintain this specific technology. To add to the urgency of the situation, every week the company was losing vast sums of money because they were not manufacturing the product yet. Therefore we had a very tight time scale and due to the international nature of the assignment our teams had to work all hours ensuring the shortlist was delivered in 3 weeks. This included conducting face to face interviews in the US, Canada, Germany, Belgium, UK, Austria and Romania with our Russian headhunters. A shortlist of 4 of the best of the world’s specialists who were willing to relocate to Russia was sent to the client. They invited all the candidates for meetings at their Russian factory as well as at their HQ to meet the owners and executives. The most experienced and senior individual from the shortlist was hired quickly. He made immediate progress and enabled the site to begin production within a few weeks. The company is now the leading manufacturer of specialist products in Russia and sells domestically, and due to the high grade product is able to export to Western Europe which is now its biggest market.
